Sammy

A week from today, I'll be in Tulsa watching Sam sing with a full out symphony orchestra. I'm so excited I don't know what to do with myself. Not to mention a Christmas concert has already been scheduled for 12/17. I feel so damn lucky to live so close to his home town. He never plays anywhere but the east/west coasts and Oklahoma.

Pointless story: One of the new teachers on my team is interested in theater a little - although she's never been to NY or anything. She came in my room yesterday morning and said that since I like theater I might like or know of this guy whose CD she was listening to in the car - Sam Harris. My jaw dropped. Other than my friends, I *never* meet anyone who knows who the hell he is. I was extremely giggly through the whole conversation.

How strange is this???? There was this guy named David who used to work for my dad's video store when I was younger. He worked there for years, and recently Jenn and I ran into another girl that used to work for us. That prompted Dad to want to find David. We've been searching phone books and the internet for a few weeks, but no luck. Yesterday, dad pulls out the section of our Friday paper that has all the entertainment stuff for the week, and there's a picture of David and his band (they're playing somewhere tonight). He used to be in a band called The Fort Worth Cats but his nickname was The Kid. Now he's in a band called Icicle and the Kid. The article goes on to tell about how his band broke up when he moved to Mexico - how he moved to Corpus Christi and plays with bands down there - and how he's come back up here after 5 years for a sort of reunion show this weekend with the band.

How the hell does that happen? A full out article in the newspaper explaining the whereabouts of someone you've been looking for? So so so strange.
